Bridge Styles and Designs

Our bridges are of laminated construction which gives great strength and graceful proportions. This approach allows us to construct almost any design within a curved arch structure to suit the clients requirements. We also produce four standard designs which meet most customer needs. The standard range of bridges can be of any length between 12ft - 40ft (3.5 metres - 12.1 metres) with widths of up to 4ft (1.2 metres).

Non-Standard Sizes

We can make bridges of any size and have built bridges of 120ft in length and also ones of 4ft. See more examples of these special sized bridges.

Construction

The bridge components are made from selected joinery timber, either Pine, Larch or Accoya and finished to a high standard. They can be treated with preservatives and finished in any colour. The design and colour can be used to make an architectural statement. See examples.

Timber

European redwood is not a durable timber, but is good if correctly maintained.
Siberian Larch is semi durable with good life expectancy.
Accoya is a new generation of softwood with exceptional durability, said to be better than teak, with a suppliers guarantee of 40 years. See our suppliers website www.accoya.com for more information.

Decking

The bridge deck and sway bracing is made from rough sawn pressure treated softwood. The “TANATONE” preservative treatment used provides a built-in brown colour which will eventually weather to a natural silver grey.

“GripDeck” non-slip decking is also available at extra cost.
Our deck boards have a rougher more rustic surface finish than  standard grooved profile boards and optional anti slip strips can be inserted for additional grip.
